Funny, I was just speaking to a few people about this the other day. Most states made it illegal to add remote start to a 5 spd however companies came out with versions that were 5 spd friendly and now you CAN have it done. I say this because the car audio place where I have tons of work done was telling me about the new kits they are getting that are 100% legal to install on a 5 spd. I believe the one kit was a Viper and another that tackled the issue and released new models was Clifford... I'd do some homework on this, but I can say that I've been informed that it is now legal again, grant it you buy a "legal" remote starter kit for a 5spd and you have it "legally" installed by a shop. I wouldn't do it any other way. I've heard at least 3 horror stories of people simply forgetting their car was in gear when they remote started and 1 of those stories ended in "yea so my car ended up rolling down a hill and getting totalled when it smashed into a tree!"
